EV Transition Monitor
Track electrification progress — penetration rates, price parity gaps, and regional EV adoption for launch planning
Purpose
EV adoption is the defining strategic challenge of the current automotive cycle, yet most OEMs are flying blind on real-time penetration rates, competitive EV positioning, and regional readiness. Internal production plans are built on syndicated data that is months old and national averages that mask enormous regional variation — a state like California may be at 20% EV penetration while Texas sits at 5%.
EV Transition Monitor computes real-time EV penetration rates, your brand's EV share vs competitors, the EV-to-ICE price gap trajectory, days supply by fuel type, and regional adoption heatmaps for launch timing decisions. Everything is framed for OEM strategy: production ramp signals, incentive calibration, regional launch prioritization, and competitive EV response.
How It Works
Execution flow. MCP tool calls are shown inline on each step.
↔ Parallel Execution
get_sold_summaryCalls get_sold_summary with fuel_type_category=EV for current, prior, and 3-month-ago periods to calculate penetration rate and trend signal (ACCELERATING / PLATEAU / DECELERATING).
get_sold_summaryParallel call without fuel_type filter to get total sold volume for denominator in penetration calculation.
get_sold_summaryPer-brand calls to get_sold_summary for your brands and each competitor brand filtered by fuel_type_category=EV to calculate brand-level EV penetration and EV market share.
↔ Parallel Execution
get_sold_summaryCalls get_sold_summary with fuel_type_category=EV to get average_sale_price — runs for current and prior periods.
get_sold_summaryParallel call without fuel filter for ICE baseline price. Calculates EV-to-ICE price gap ($, %) and trend signal (APPROACHING PARITY / STALLED / DIVERGING).
search_active_carsCalls search_active_cars with fuel_type=Electric, car_type=new to get active inventory count and avg DOM. Calculates days supply per brand as production planning signal.
get_sold_summaryCalls get_sold_summary ranked by make with fuel_type_category=EV to build brand EV share league table with bps changes and GAINING/LOSING/STABLE signals.
get_sold_summaryCalls get_sold_summary with summary_by=state and fuel_type_category=EV to calculate per-state EV penetration rates for regional launch priority scoring.
MCP Tool Calls
| Tool | Calls | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
get_sold_summary | 6–10 | Penetration rates, brand comparisons, price parity, brand share rankings, regional heatmap |
search_active_cars | 1–2 | EV days supply by market and by brand |

Cost Estimate
20 analyses/month ≈ $3–7
Limitations
- US market only — EV sold analytics require get_sold_summary which is US-only.
- Tesla dominates EV share nationally (~50–60%); results contextualize ex-Tesla for competitor comparison.
- EV segment counts may be low in some states, reducing statistical reliability — flag when sold_count < 50 per period.
- Days supply calculation requires both sold velocity and active inventory to be pulled in the same analysis window.
